Vashti Jone die of mystery
cause in Ghana in 2007
There are new revelations
surrounding the 2007 abrupt
death of Ghana based
Liberian actress Vashti
Jones.
Vashti left the United
States on the invitation to
act in a major movie that
was ongoing in Ghana and
became suddenly ill leading
to her death.
According to an African star
investigation she was
struggling with her Liberian
identity in the very
exclusive but growing Ghana
movies industry. Often,
Vashti, like Van Vicker who
has similar Liberian linage
has had to avoid mentioning
anything about their
Liberian connection to avoid
being kick out or label as
foreigner.
“At some point she
adopted a Ghanaian middle
name Nannaya but it didn’t
help” according to a source
who was once close to the
late Vashti.
Vashti was soon a shining
star despite all the odds
acting in several movies
including the hit movie
“Play Boy”.
After her death in 2007,
doctors in Ghana said she
died from cold or sinus
related illnesses but an
African Star investigation
point to a foul play
allegedly due to potential
rivalry within the Ghana
film industry.
A tight-lip source
said, “Her death was full of
over-ups because she was
taking lead in this highly
competitive industry that
Ghanaian themselves didn’t
have control over and they
were afraid of the
repercussion since she was
not a Ghanaian.“
But how such a popular
actress died for a simple
cause as sinus without any
investigation conducted
whatsoever by Ghanaian
authorities is the question
many are asking.
An observer in Ghana at the
time said, “Vashti had so
far disassociated herself
from the greater Liberian
refugee community to the
point that when she became
ill, there was no one at all
around her to protect from
anyone trying to hurt her.”
