THE KING IS MINE REVIEW
At
last the most
anticipated Ghana made
movie “The King is Mine”
is out but with many
disappointments and
obviously the same
problem with Ghanaian
movies directors.
“They love to copy not
just ideas but a whole
movies story from
Hollywood movies and
“The King is Mine” is
disgustingly a copycat
of the HOLLYHOOD
movie, “The
Other Boleyn Girl”
released in Feb 2008,
word for word, line for
line…. I mean great
expectation and
publicity should at
least meet the minimum
of satisfaction. This
movie is not bad as it
would have been the
giving good credit to
costume and beautiful
locations and neither
does it fit any reality
or originality but would
rather be describe as an
ambitious fairytales.
What happen if Ghana was
Shakespeare Rome and
everybody was speaking
this wacky 19th
century English?
What
was the director
thinking? Perhaps
Director Frank R. Arase
was trying to prove this
senseless superiority
thing about Ghana being
the best English
speaker, but where does
that take African Movie?
No Where.
It
is just a waste of time
and talent trying to
master Shakespearean
English when our own
language is going down
the drain because the
scenario doesn't match,
even for a little. What
we need is original
stories that appeal to
the people who use their
hard earn money to buy
these movies. Beside,
the impressionists need
to realized that the
African Movies audience
is far reaching than
expected and well inform
as well.
