Meet Liberia’s Biggest Hip-Co
Artist “Luckay Buckay”
Buckay arrived in
Philadelphia as part of thousand of Liberian
Refugees that settled in Philly due to civil war
in Liberia. He was a hustler and barber on the
Africans dominated Woodland Avenue in South-west
Philly. Like several young Liberian, he had
several brushes with the law which lead to his
deportation, according to close friends.
He’s now
Lives in Liberia as part of a musical group that
is changing Liberian Music.
They
called their styles hip-co which is simply
another version of hip pop but juiced with deep
Liberian streets slangs.
Hipco are artists are
really popular in Liberia and they are not only
changing Liberian Music but they way people
looked at Liberian Language as a whole.
It is rap
the Liberian way “We bringing English down, we
don’t get time for that English shit”. Watch
