When Gay men and women from around the world wanted to converge in the Ghanaian city of Koforidua for their convention, the then Ghana’s information Minister wrote in their refusal that Government, "shall not permit the proposed conference anywhere in Ghana… homosexuality, lesbianism and bestiality are offences under the laws of Ghana." The government encouraged the Ghanaian information Minister to punish those who gave initial permit to the gay conference.

Richard Quayson, Deputy Commissioner of Ghana Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, told the BBC. “I do not know if I want to promote homosexuality in Ghana.”

Here is it, the Ghanaian Movies industry is more tolerant than the government to the extend it’s willing to defy the government ban on homosexuality to portray gay sex in their movies. The Ghanaian movie Jezebel features two fat-leg women flirting and kissing before lying on the bed in sexual position.

Gay pressure group in Ghana says the emergence of lesbian theme movie is an awaking call for the recognition of gay rights in Africa. “I’m proud that Ghana is the first nation in West Africa to recognize the right of gays in Africa,” said Prince Macdonald president of Ghana gays group.

Now he said there are plan on the way by his group to do a man to man gay-themed movie encounter that will be produced by Ghana’s one and only Director Frank Rajah Arase shortly featuring Mijid Michael and Van Vickers as lead characters.
