Latest news coming from the entertainment world does not favor once popular R&B star, Lauryn Hill, formerly of the Fugees. Could she be on the verge of financial devastation? According to Fox Columnist Roger Friedman, she is!

 

Hill was living in the Caribbean for a while as the mother of four children by Rohan Marley, son of the late Bob Marley. But now, insiders say, Hill is living in New Jersey with her mother — and the four kids — and may be in significant debt. Her only big solo hit album, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill," was released 10 years ago, if you can believe it.

 

I mean it's not too hard to believe. Lauryn is a troubled soul who has only gotten worse as she's gotten older. With no hit singles for years and no sold out concerts as of late [and that last one doesn't count] could Lauryn be heading towards the food stamp line? Real talk though, her husband is a Marley and don't they stay paid?

 

But damn Lauryn got her fans feeling like old crows. It’s been 10 years and she is missing in action. Damn! Well if it's any consolation that album is still banging!

 

When the Fugees disbanded in 1997, just about everyone had Lauryn Hill pegged as the member of the trio who would go on to conquer the world as a solo artist. And, for a while, she lived up to the hype.

 

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (1998) was a massive critical and commercial success, earning the singer-rapper five Grammy awards. Things haven’t gone quite so swimmingly for Hill since then.

 

Amid rumors that things aren’t quite right upstairs, she’s become a Garbo-esque hermit, leaving fellow ex-Fugee Wyclef Jean to fill the gap. Jean’s most recent studio effort, The Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant, is an exuberant blend of hip-hop, pop, and reggae, featuring cameos by a virtual who’s who of music’s A-list, including Akon, Paul Simon, Norah Jones, Mary J. Blige, and Shakira.

 

Mind you, none of those folks will be on hand when Wyclef plays the Commodore on Wednesday (February 13), but maybe Hill will come out of retirement to lend a hand.

 

American blog sites are buzzing with allegations that Lauryn Hill had her fifth baby recently. They say that she gave birth to a baby girl, and the father is none other than estranged hubby Rohan Marley. Rohan is the father of her other four children.
